S.V.A.G.A. began with several friends getting together to play games on a simple network. This gathering has expanded into a monthly gathering. The gathering took on a formal name of S.C.A.T.A (Strategic Command and Tactical Assault), but we soon found out this term (scata) had some negative connotations in other languages. So we have renamed to S.V.A.G.A. The name has also become more general as the website may grow to encompass more than just computer games. We may begin to include board games, console games, etc.
Eventually, one day, we hope to host or co-host several sponsored tournaments that would allow for a larger crowd and significant prizes. If this one day would grow larger, I would not be opposed to the idea of a more permanent LAN Center, but that is many years in the future.
Currently, S.C.A.T.A. is run by me, Randall Nissley, with some help from my friends. If you would be interested in helping organize or setup for our events, please let me know.
